I do not know if he was embalmed like the mummies. I know that when Jews die today, they are not embalmed but placed in sealed tombs.
You comment about "God meant it for good," is good thinking. I believe that all children of God, that is to say, born again, baptized believers, can say to themselves that God meant it for good. Furthermore, I believe God will bring good out of all things, for those who love Him,Romans 8:28.
