That was a terrible revenge to kill all of the men. It was also awful to have raped dinah. What will happen to all the women and children left behind after the men were killed?
Rape is always horrible, and so is murder. We get a glimpse of the sinfulness of God's chosen people. Yet Levi and Simeon thought they were behaving righteously. Moses gave the Law, "an eye for an eye," to prevent this kind of overreaction.
I might add that many of the Jews who killed Jesus thought they were acting righteously. After all, He claimed to be God. And before Paul was saved, Acts 9, he thought he was acting righteously by killing Christians.
But wait, the guys flying the planes into the WTO thought they were acting righteously.
Man is sinful, even on a good day. That why he needs a Savior; to save him from his sins. Scripture says we are all like that, with no exceptions. "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23
As for the women and children of Shechem, I believe Levi and Simeon took them back with them and made slaves out of them.
