Your question is a good one. I believe Joseph always had his eyes on the Lord. In his dreams as a youth, he knew God had great plans for him. When Potifer's wife tempted him, he said, "how can I do this wicked thing and sin against God?"
I believe God has great plans for all His children. We just need to be more involved with the invisible, rather than the visible. See Hebrews 11:1.
