Getting Smaller
John the Baptist said, "He must get larger and I must get smaller."
I know that many of you are now reading the Scriptures regularly and I thank God for that. My reading of the Scriptures daily has solidified my life and given it meaning and purpose.
He is indeed getting larger, and now its time for me to get smaller. Keep on reading. Stay with it, and if I can help you, please feel free to call and ask questions.

Love Your Enemies
Matthew 5:43-45
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.”
Why?
“In order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”
Goodness and mercy to one’s enemies reflect the heart of God. You were once His enemy until your eyes were opened to His grace and mercy. Pray for the salvation of Osama bin Laden and his leadership, and for Al Qaeda. Pray that they come to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ. They are actually not our enemies. They are captives of Satan, who is our real enemy.

Authority
Matthew 8:8-10
The centurion asked Jesus to heal his servant. Jesus offered to go to his home, but the centurion said that all Jesus had to do was to speak the words and his servant would be healed. Jesus healed the servant, and then marveled at the faith of the centurion.
Do you believe Jesus has authority over all things and can do whatever He wills? He can heal any disease; find the right mate for a person; provide for any financial need; and give comfort in any distress. He can raise the dead; and in the Rapture that is exactly what He will do, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians 15:51-52.
Are you as convinced as the centurion that God can do anything He wills? We pray for His will and seek to line up our wills with His.

The Righteous and the Wicked
I Never Knew You
Matthew 7:21-23
Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’”
These verses should cause us to examine the basis of our salvation. Those whom the Lord was speaking to were good people. They had done many fine things, and done them in His name. So why were they not accepted by God?
I believe their problem was that they were depending on their good works to save them and make them good enough to get into heaven. God has given us one way to get into heaven, and it is not by doing good works. He sent His Son to die on the cross and shed His blood so that our sins would be forgiven. Unless one has received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and therefore had his sins forgiven, his sins will stand as witness against him in the final judgment. Now once we have been saved, we should spend the rest of our lives doing good works as the Holy Spirit directs us according to the Father’s will.
