Abraham

God said to Abram; his name later changed to Abraham:

1. “Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.”

2. “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.”

3. “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Later, the Scriptures will say that "Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness." Abraham will be known as the "father of faith" because he believed God.

All of us who believe God join Abraham's spiritual family, and are known as children of faith. But it is important to emphasize that when one says he believes “God,” that he is talking about the true God, and not a "god" of his imagination. Practically everyone will say they believe God, but is their God the God of the Scriptures? Beyond Creation, we can only know the true God by what He reveals to us in His word, the Scriptures.
